 Billerica hardware store owner's $100G gift launches Boys & Girls Club overhaul effort Dan Butler, of the Daniel P. Butler Co. in New York, specializes in fund raising for nonprofits such as the Boys & Girls Club. He applauded O'Connor's contribution as a message to naysayers who doubt such a lofty goal can be achieved.  Gov. Mark Schweiker awarded a $6 million grant for the expansion of the academy, which has raised $6.4 million in private and public contributions. The total bill will come to about $17.5 million, and the school is confident that the remaining $5 million will be raised through additional fund raising. Hackensack University Medical Center has received a $1 million Challenge Grant from The Kresge Foundation of Troy, MI. The grant will be used toward the construction of the Sarkis Gabrellian Women’s and Children’s Pavillion, which will be completed in late 2005. |
